Impro Philosophy

The Shows

Everything that happens on stage is created there and then. There's no script, no planning ahead. We listen to each other and accept each other's ideas... plunge into the unknown and create theatre from seemingly nothing!

Even after years of playing together we keep creating new scenes - new situations, new characters, new stories. There's no end to it.

Like Paris, our improvised theatre is a moveable feast. Each show is a unique event that will never happen quite the same way again.

The People

Every single person present contributes to the uniqueness of the event as the evening unfolds: the actors on stage, the musician, the lighting operator, and - last but not least - the audience.

We're not talking about participation on stage here, not even about audience suggestions for scenes.

We're talking about pure and simple presence. We're talking about you being you, and you being there with us. Nothing more.

All you have to do is show up, sit down and relax. We'll take care of the rest.

The Improvisation

If the audience wants to take us home and serve us tea and biscuits after a show, then we've succeeded.*

Good impro - or improv - is not about being funny or being clever. It's not about showing off your physical skills or putting your sensibility on display.

It's about taking risks and accepting failure with a smile; it's about daring to be obvious and allowing yourself to be altered; it's about taking care of others and letting yourself be inspired by them; it's about having fun and creating stories together - spontaneously and from the gut.

In a nutshell, making impro theatre is about being as good natured and positively human as you can be.

It takes more than technique and acting skills. It takes courage.

Then there will be change; there will be story; there will be comedy, and there will be drama.

There will be meaningful entertainment.
